PROF. DR. IŞIK DİDEM KARAGÖZ
Prof. Dr. Isik Didem Karagoz is a distinguished scholar in the Department of Molecular Biology at Gaziantep University, specializing in cancer biology, molecular genetics, and biotechnology. Her academic journey began in 2009 at Gaziantep University, where she progressed to Assistant Professor in 2011, Associate Professor in 2017, and Professor in 2022. She continues her research and teaching at the same institution. Her research expertise encompasses cancer biology, epigenetic regulation mechanisms, DNA methylation profiling, tumor biomarkers, molecular modeling, and biotechnological drug targeting. Prof. Dr. Karagoz has conducted extensive research on elucidating genetic and epigenetic mechanisms in breast and lung cancer models, evaluating the antitumor effects of herbal and natural metabolites, and investigating the molecular characterization of allergen proteins. She has authored over 60 articles in international peer-reviewed journals, contributed toward numerous national publications, and provided thesis supervision for countless graduate students. Her work is widely recognized and frequently cited in major databases like Scopus and Web of Science. She has served as a lead investigator, researcher, and consultant for over 25 projects funded by TUBITAK, University Scientific Research Projects (BAP), and international programs. Throughout her career, she has supervised more than 20 Master’s and Ph.D. theses, with her students achieving high levels of scientific productivity internationally. In addition to her research, she serves as an editor, reviewer, and author of book chapters. She is an active member of the Turkish Society of Histology and Embryology and the Molecular Cancer Research Association (MOKAD). Her academic vision is dedicated to contributing to science and human health through innovative and sustainable research in biology and biotechnology while fostering interdisciplinary thinking and a culture of critical inquiry among young researchers.
